With one of the largest trauma surgeon teams in the state, the Medical College of Wisconsin is prepared to save lives day and night. Working around the clock sometimes means shifts of 35 hours or more.
“It takes about three days to recover from an overnight call, according to a recent study on sleep cycles,” said Dr. Marc A. de Moya, chief of the trauma division, who has more than two decades of experience in the medical field.
De Moya admits he stays focused with catnaps and snacks.
“Nuts are a healthy option, but sometimes you get defeated by pizza.”
