Minus the Christmas that never was in 2020, I’ve never been away from my parents, sister, aunts, uncles and cousins for the holiday season. I have many fond memories of Christmas Eve, each taking turns opening presents by the warmth of the fire at Grandma’s house, and Christmas Day at my aunt’s, eating lasagna and cookies and playing cards until the wee hours of the morning.
This holiday, I started creating my own traditions, as my in-laws are now a part of my family as well. But the need for the traditions I was raised on is hard to ignore.
