Black Shoe Hospitality, known for Maxie’s, Blue’s Egg and Story Hill BKC, combines giving with business.
“We choose to take the money – a typical restaurant will spend about 2-3 percent of gross on advertising and promotion – we take that same amount and dedicate it to charitable endeavors around the city,” co-owner Dan Sidner said.
“Obviously it’s an opportunity to do some good, but it’s also a really good way to promote our business. I don’t think enough businesses look at it in that light. It builds community around our restaurants. That’s a big part of how we promote.”
