Whether flying for business or pleasure, Wisconsin travelers are embracing hometown airports as quicker, easier travel options.
Lower fares, better service and cheaper parking make Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport the preferred gateway for both Wisconsin and northern Illinois travelers. Citing Foxconn’s impending arrival, County Executive Chris Abele announced plans for a new international terminal last fall.
Similarly, Madison’s Dane County Regional Airport invested over $260 million in improvements to accommodate growing passenger traffic. Further north, a 30 percent increase in travelers over five years prompted Appleton International Airport to embark on a $6.8 million improvement project in December.
