Beer, lederhosen and oompah music; the three combine into a joyous, month-long festival celebrating Wisconsin’s German roots. Where should you experience Oktoberfest this year?
The largest and most popular option is Milwaukee Oktoberfest. Running from Sept. 9 to Oct. 1, the festival centers around Fiserv Forum, just north of downtown. In Madison, head over to the famous Essen Haus near downtown. On Sept. 14, the local staple will feature family-friendly shenanigans, oompah bands and a shuttle to the Badger football game afterward.
For the most authentic experience, visit the festival at the epicenter of Wisconsin’s German culture: Germantown.
