Approximately one year after the company cleared 17 football fields of land in Mount Pleasant, the first concrete pillars of Foxconn’s massive facility have finally been raised.
According to Gilbane, the company responsible for constructing the facility, the company hopes to have most major construction completed by end of year. Gov. Evers met with Foxconn officials in July to assure progress, accountability and taxpayer protection.
Still, the missed deadlines and shaky promises have left many Wisconsinites skeptical. The fact that construction has begun, coupled with Evers’ belief that we’ll see some new jobs in 2020, are good signs of progress.
