Memorial Day and Veterans Day: What’s the difference?

by Jan Schroder

Federal holidays like Memorial Day and Veterans Day are not just extra days off. These important holidays mark the sacrifices made by our military members and their families.

Memorial Day, observed on the last Monday of May, is dedicated to remembering and honoring those who lost their lives while serving in the military. On this day, we honor their sacrifice and remember the freedoms they fought to protect.

On Nov. 11 we celebrate Veterans Day, which recognizes those who have served in the military, both living and deceased. It also commemorates their bravery, sacrifice and dedication in defending our country.
