Johnsonville

In 1945, the Stayer family opened a butcher shop in Johnsonville, just west of Sheboygan. The original recipe of “sausage with a big taste” that came over from 19th-century Austria was the foundation of the business in the 1940s and remains the staple of the family-owned company today.

In 2015, the Stayers were ranked on the Forbes list of richest American families, thanks to their globally recognized food company, Johnsonville.

Currently headquartered in Sheboygan, with more than 1,400 employees and products available in more than 40 countries, Johnsonville is one of the largest companies in the state.
