According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, there are 20,000 motor vehicle crashes each winter in Wisconsin. Stay safe by learning to correct your slides.

Though it may be instinctual, do NOT apply the brakes. All four wheels need to be spinning freely to regain traction. Next, let off the gas and keep your front wheels pointed straight down the road where you want to go. Lastly, don’t panic, and keep your eyes pointed straight down the road, just like if you were driving normally.

You can also help prevent slides entirely by investing in some good snow tires.
