Paul Henschel is a confirmed night owl. A machinist for Milwaukee Forge, he works third shift, clocking in from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.
“It’s more laid back without so many people around,” Henschel said of his overnight schedule.
Although the transition wasn’t easy, Henschel is accustomed to his unconventional lifestyle. While many third-shifters stay awake after work, Henschel always returns home, showers and sleeps until 2:30-3 p.m. so he can spend time with his wife, who works first shift.
“It’s nice to keep sort of the same schedule,” he said.
