Located at the confluence of the Chippewa and Eau Claire rivers, many would argue Eau Claire’s recent national coverage and tourism uptick is thanks to the arts – specifically music. With over 68 music venues, an average of 152 music events per month and a university with a top music program, it’s no surprise recent Grammy nominees and winners have collaborated with artists with strong Eau Claire roots.
Since Justin Vernon of Bon Iver fame took home his Grammys in 2012, the city adjusted to its newfound attention accordingly, undergoing a downtown development project.
