Last Monday, Sara Meaney, Governor Evers’ nominee to lead the Department of Tourism, issued a challenge to Wisconsinites. Before zipping off to some exotic foreign locale, visit one place in Wisconsin you’ve never explored.
She has a point. With low cost, variety and cheese, there’s a lot to love locally. Though next year’s Democratic National Convention is expected to bring in $200 million in business, that’s one percent of Wisconsin’s annual $20 billion tourism industry.
Some options? A hike along Great River Road, a wander through historic downtown Mineral Point or late-season visit to the world’s largest tubing park.
