Study: Madtown tops in nation for work-life balance

Chasing the ever-elusive work-life balance? Consider a move to Madison. The state capital ranked No. 1 on a recently released list of the top 25 cities in the United States with the best work-life balance.

SmartAsset evaluated data on unemployment rates, average commute times, home affordability and the availability of entertainment venues, restaurants and bars. Madison ranks in the top 10 for arts, entertainment and recreation establishments and has the eighth highest concentration of bars in the study.

Plus, unemployment is at 2.2% (No. 1), while the labor force participation rate is 86.5% (No. 2).
