The House on the Rock is a bizarre cliffside mansion/tourist attraction featuring architecturally distinct rooms of cars, weapons, the world’s largest indoor carousel and other curious objects.
Legend holds that the complex’s creator, Alex Jordan Jr., built the House to spite Frank Lloyd Wright, who had insulted his father years earlier. However, the myth comes from a single source: Sid Boyum, a photographer and friend of Jordan’s, who was also declared a 1976 World Champion Liar.
In reality, the House is just the result of a reclusive-yet-eccentric architect showcasing his limitless imagination. Naturally, it’s a must-see.
