Drastic experiences come to mind. Accounting firms give opportunities for interns to be independent. I was trusted to make calls to clients, schedule meetings and own areas of the audit. The amount of knowledge and confidence I built over 10 weeks was astonishing.
Here comes the bad.
The expression “drowning in work” was very real. With tight deadlines for difficult projects and working 12+ hour days for three months straight, it felt like there was no end in sight. I was definitely overworked but found comfort in knowing there was an endpoint, and I was able to come out ahead.
