In Beloit, the buildings of industries gone by are now home to the next wave of businesses guiding the city into the tech generation.
The city of about 37,000 on the central Wisconsin-Illinois border has seen major investments and renovations transform empty industrial space into a bustling area of tech startups, co-working space and IT companies.
Downtown, 13 different businesses now occupy the Ironworks campus, former home of the Beloit Corp. for almost 150 years. Along with the Beloit International Film Festival, starting its 13th annual showcase in February, Beloit is building on its history of innovation.
