On Aug. 26, GOP Rep. Sean Duffy announced on Facebook that he will step down from Congress in September.

“After eight and a half years, the time has come for me to focus more on the reason we fight these battles – family,” he wrote.

Duffy met his future wife Rachel on the set of MTV’s “Road Rules: All Stars” in 1998. They’re expecting their ninth child in September. Duffy says his unborn child’s anticipated heart condition expedited his retirement.

Republican state Sen. Tom Tiffany and Democratic state Sen. Janet Bewley have both issued statements implying interest in the vacant seat.
