Training tips for winter running

by Michael Polzella

There’s often a temptation to bow out of rigorous training during the winter months. Here are three ways to keep up the momentum:

Tweak: A training schedule can always be modified if it’s unbearable to run outside. Switch up a long run for a shorter one.

Diversify: If the weather is too extreme, time your workout to be the same length as your run. If it takes an hour to complete your run, run on a treadmill for 30 minutes and cycle for 30 minutes.

Take the detour: Hit the gym and opt for a short but high-intensity workout.
