As a global communications VP for Johnson Controls, Betty Arndt logged lots of frequent flyer miles — nearly 30 trips a year, a third of those international. Now retired, she continues her world travels with husband, Tom.
Below, Arndt shares three smart travel tips:
• Embrace the culture — Don’t stay in American hotels. Shop local markets, eat local foods and sample local drinks.
• Maximize found time — Divide long flights into work, recreation (books, movies, music) and sleep.
• Pack strategically — Great accessories (scarves, jewelry, shawls) change up an outfit. A 12-day trip to China with only a carry-on? Yes. She. Did.
