Where to camp before it gets cold

Waking up outside with feeling in your fingers is a rare feeling in Wisconsin. With temperatures dropping next month, where should you plan your final warm summer camping trip?

Copper Falls State Park offers thickly wooded trails and gorges for a traditional backpacking and camping adventure. As the name implies, Rock Island State Park is only accessible via ferry but features a gorgeous hike to the Pottawatomie Lighthouse. Finally, for a mixed woods-and-water experience, check out Flambeau River State Forest.

With canoe-beckoning rivers and gorgeous vistas, the far north is a “hike,” but it’s worth the trip.
