American Girl

Anyone who grew up during the 1990s or early 2000s will admit they are familiar with American Girl. Every birthday and holiday, it seemed as if a doll or its accessories were at the top of every girl’s wish list.

Pleasant Rowland started the company in 1986 to create dolls representing girls from all walks of life. The historical characters line consists of dolls complete with contemporary clothing and their own storylines. Purchased by Mattel in 1998, the American Girl empire spans magazines, a publishing company and storefronts.

Headquartered in Middleton, American Girl will always be a hallmark Wisconsin company.
