Nonprofit leader advocates for volunteerism

To some, social responsibility is a natural calling and passion.

“As a teenager, it was eye-opening to see the difference a simple smile can make in someone’s day. The volunteer experience made me feel connected to my community,” said Natalee Kashou, communications manager for The Gathering.

In addition to providing meals and services to the homeless population in the Milwaukee area, The Gathering receives food donations from national corporations that have a focus on social responsibility, such as Starbucks, McDonald’s and more. Kashou encourages volunteerism: “You meet incredible people and begin to understand more about yourself and your community.”
