UW-Milwaukee’s approach to sustainability includes reducing campus energy consumption, improving student/staff health & wellness, and expanding environmental & sustainability curriculums. Wisconsin’s second largest university has earned the following accolades:

• Top Green College, The Princeton Review

• Green Ribbon School, U.S. Department of Education

• Top 50 Cool Schools winner, Sierra Club

• Gold winner, Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education

Chancellor Mark Mone has described the university’s approach as “organic” and the work of many dedicated people.

2018 endeavors include a new waste reduction strategy and participation in Second Nature’s Climate Commitment to shrink UWM’s carbon footprint.
