WIAA state tourneys score economic wins

In the springtime, Madison and Green Bay welcome visitors for state high school basketball and volleyball tournaments. During the boys basketball tournament, the state capital sees around 76,000 players, coaches and fans, generating an estimated $6 million each year.

The girls basketball tournament moved from Madison to the Resch Center in 2013, bringing 40,000 attendees to Green Bay and an annual economic impact of $2.5 million. Titletown has also hosted the girls state volleyball tournament since 2002, drawing about 20,000 people and $700,000 annually.

The boys state volleyball tournament moves to Green Bay in 2019.
