Jim Popp shares three lessons from nearly three decades in financial services:
• The most important element of a business relationship is still — and I hope will always be — the people on both sides of the relationship. There’s no substitute for doing business with trustworthy, honorable, high-character people.
• I learned early on that trust is built with consistency — in approach and communication; of personnel; of thought and process. Be thoughtful, measured and consistent in your principles.
• Always do the right thing, even when it’s not popular and harder to do. Embrace tough decisions with the intention of doing what’s right.
